Winter 2005-2006 Family Photos

Christmas tree shopping

We went to pick out our Christmas tree shortly after Thanksgiving.  Anna had a great time wandering around the lot and looking at everything.  They had an electric chainsaw for cutting the stumps off the end.  She spotted it  and started walking towards it just as one of the workers picked it up to start cutting a trunk (she was still quite far away and perfectly safe).  Once she heard the noise of the cutting she changed her mind, turned around, and ran right back to mommy!

Last year Anna was too small to really appreciate the tree.  This year she was fascinated with it and with the Christmas lights.

Decorating the Christmas tree

We ended up with a very nice tree with even branches and no bare spots, but it must not have been fresh since it started shedding just a day or two after we put it up.

Something about the guitar fascinates her.

Anna got the chance to see her aunts and really enjoyed the attention and all the play that was provided by having so many relatives around at one time.

Peter & Anna

Anna had a total fascination with Peter's nose and glasses.  He was sleeping on the couch and she wouldn't leave him alone.  Of course Becky and Jenny were there to 'encourage' Anna in her endeavors.

Anna & her shoes

Anna loves her dress shoes that her Grandfather (on Shannon's side) gave her.  They make a satisfying click-click when she walks on hard surfaces.

Anna sweeping

Anna was given a broom for Christmas and she loves it.  I think it makes her feel grown up to be able to 'help' mom & dad clean up around the house.

Anna brushing her hair

In a similar way, she loves her mother's hairbrushes. Of course they don't do much for her she has little hair right now:).

Helping wash dishes

Whenever Anna spots one of us doing dishes she will drag her highchair over to the sink and offer her assistance.  We let her rinse the dirty dishes under running water which she loves.

Jacob's desk at work on Valentine's day

For Valentines Day Shannon completely surprised me.  Without my even suspecting it (I knew something was up but never would have guessed the particulars) she prepared a huge number of homemade cookies, miniature cheesecakes, and chocolate desserts.  Then she conspired with her sister-in-law to decorate my desk at work.

So in the morning we exchanged cards and some small gifts and I left for work thinking that that would be it.  I was completely surprised when I walked in and discovered what she had done at work.  It's pretty nice to have a wife who does so much to show you that she loves you :)

Anna absolutely loves playing with other kids, here she is with a few of her favorite playmates.

Anna was escaping from a very mischievous activity.  Shanon and I thought her expression was very telling!

Unless perhaps it is the opportunity to see how you look after you have carefully applied them.  This wasn't a set-up, she found the mirror herself.

Burning pizza

We had a little family get-together in March.  There was a pizza accident and if filled our apartment with smoke.  It wasn't a terrible problem however as the day was mild and sunny.

The pizza problem was not Kristie's fault, she just made them.
